At
the junction of the Aegean and the Mediterranean, Bodrum
is a picturesque town, occupying a small but beautiful peninsula.
Prominent and acclaimed for its vivacious, friendly and bohemian
atmosphere, it is one of the cutest holiday resorts of Turkey.
Headed by the fantasy castle
constructed by the Knights of Rhodes, the town is seen
as fashionable and descreet, erupting with white cookie-cutter
homes, myriads of colorful bougainvillaeas speckled thoughout.
The clear, deep blue, warm sea
is an intrinsic epiphenomenon of the area, and the numerous
beaches and unspoiled bays bedecked with oustanding rock geologies,
offering neat afternoons for water lovers, divers and naturalists.
Octopuses, and sponges of various colors and forms are also
found here. 
Part
of the fascinating atmosphere of Bodrum is its history, the
remains of which are coated over this ancient city of ‘Halicarnassus’.
Of the seven wonders of the ancient world, this is one: the
tomb of King Mausolus – dating back to the 4th-century BC and
still siting on this land where Herodotus was born. A theater
(1300 seats) from the 2nd- century BC near Goktepe,
is worth seeing, together with St. Peter's Castle presenting
the architectural style of the 15th- century which
is now a museum of underwater archaeology. The
most prominent feature of Bodrum is the prevailing activity,
especially the nightlife. After the intensive action in the
daytime, one may choose one of the discos here (some of which
are the best in Europe) and spend
an exciting night of fun under the twirling and flashing lights.
